In a landmark collaboration, Loom & Loop and Central Saint Martins’ Material Futures MA program launched the ‘Wearable Structure’ residency—bringing together master weavers and computational designers to prototype gravity-defying, lightweight large-scale earrings using tension-based loom algorithms.
The inaugural cohort’s prototypes debuted at London Fashion Week’s Craft Pavilion, showcasing how algorithmic pattern generation can preserve handcraft integrity while enabling unprecedented structural complexity.
This initiative positions small-batch accessories at the intersection of heritage technique and next-gen design thinking—redefining what ‘sculptural wearability’ means for the post-mass-production era.
